Well unfortunatley my 20 yr old boat has some pitting, since starting this project of repainting my boat the process has revealed the pits. i have sanded and wire wheeled the boat down to bare aluminum where the paint had deteriorated and discovered the pits..
First post, first pontoon boat. 1997 grumman 24 fs, 1996 evinrude 88, new seating, solid decking. i searched the forums but couldn't find a dedicated thread addressing pitting repair.. This video shows a technique of repairing holes in an aluminum boat which works for holes up to 1/4" in diameter. full instructions below. please, feel free to ask questions.. My dealer says my boat is worth within about $2,000 of his original offer, the difference could be less. it's over all a very clean boat, and i'd put it's fishing capability and efficiency up against any other 20' boat. this corrosion is a pain to fix, but really is cosmetic..
